Olivia Rutigliano is an award-winning writer and cultural historian. She is an Editor at Lit Hub and its vertical CrimeReads. In addition to her weekly writing for those websites, her essays on history and entertainment have appeared in Vanity Fair, Vulture, Lapham's Quarterly, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Public Books, The Baffler, Bright Wall/Dark Room, Truly Adventurous, and others. Her work has been profiled in Mother Jones, Forbes, and Dubai’s AIR magazine.
She is a specialist in the history of mass entertainment since the late 19th century, and has a MA, MPhil, and PhD from the departments of English/Comparative Literature and Theatre at Columbia University, where she was the Marion E. Ponsford Fellow. She also has an MA and BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
She lives in New York City with her husband, John Buffalo Mailer, and their two dogs.
